Hi There,
Cement Candle Holders has been one of the most awaited DIY projects for me, I have always wanted to complete this DIY for so long now. You must have seen these Cement Candle Holders doing rounds on the internet, on cement crafts by nifty, BuzzFeed, it keeps on popping everywhere on Pinterest feeds.
These Cement Candle Holders might remind you of the dragon eggs from Game of Thrones, Don’t they?? haha...if you are not a Got fan and you are wondering what am I talking about!! Do not worry, Not just as a centerpiece for the Halloween decorations, but also you can use them for decorating your space in general. For instance, you can use them as Planters or candy holders as well as Tealight Holders to lighten up your garden. Not only do they look fancy and catch everyone’s attention, but also they’re super easy to make. These will leave people in splits, wondering what the hell they are and how did you make them, Trust me!! I have been there ;).
So, let,s get started…
Supplies You need to make Cement Candle Holders:

How to make Cement Candle Holders:
- Inflate the balloons to the size you want. Place them over a disposable glass or a bowl. Don’t forget to add some weight to the paper cup. You can also secure it with tape just to avoid slipping later since the Cement mix is heavy.
- Mix the Cement with water, roughly one cup Cement and half cup water, keeping the consistency a bit thick, yet runny. I did not use any specific Measurements, as it depends on the size you want. So, I would suggest making small batches for one balloon at a time. You will get the idea of how much you need.
- Coat or run the Cement mixture over the balloons covering all sides and let the extra flow down. Do wear gloves, it’s going to get really messy.
- For the Leaf embossing, gently place the leaf over the Cement coated balloon. Set them down and let them dry completely before breaking the balloons.
- Cut, not pop the balloons very carefully, as the pressure might break the candle holder. Pull out the leaf very gently, it will leave a beautiful embossing on your Cement Candle Holders.
- After that, Paint them with metallic colors to finish the look and Spray with an acrylic sealer.
And Here’s the final look. 🙂 If you want more candle holder ideas, do check out the Lotus Tealight Holders here.
