Macrame –
If you are new to this term – It’s the art of knotting strings in a certain pattern. While Knotting and weaving can be quite tedious, Macrame comes in handy. Once you get the hang of it, you can easily knot yourself one. I am no pro at this, but this Fishnet Knotting pattern is the easiest one I feel.
I have knotted the fishnet pattern on empty beer bottles, it can be done on anything you like, I am going to make hanging pots soon, But the process remains the same. So, Let’s get started with this…..
Check out the video and get the instructions down below.
Supplies :
- Beer Bottle
- Jute Twine
- Fevicol /Glue
- Scissors
- Paintbrush (optional)
Directions:
- Start by wrapping the twine around the neck of the bottle. Tie an overhand knot and cut the extra twine.
- Measure a strand twice the height of the bottle and cut such 6 strands.
- Now, Fold each strand in half and start looping.
- Take one of the six strands, loop it through the strand, circled around the bottleneck making an overhead knot again and lightly pull it through.
- Repeat the process with all the remaining five strands. Adjust all the six strands at equal distance and secure them tightly.
- Now, take an adjacent strand of each and knot them together and repeat the process all the way down to the bottom of the bottle, Until you encapsulate the bottle in a Fishnet pattern.
- Once you reach the bottom, tie all the strands together in a single knot at the center and cut any extra twine.
- Moving on to the neck, Simply wrap the twine all the way up. Use glue / Fevicol to secure in place.
- Let the glue dry for 10- 15 mins.
And Your Bottles are Macramed!!!! Use them as Planters, or as hanging planters.
( just wrap a twine to make a handle and use them as hanging planters)
OR Use them as lamps 🙂
You can knot the fishnet pattern on anything you want.
