So, today we are going to make a Budget-friendly, very easy DIY Sunburst mirror. Not only do they look dramatic, but also make an excellent piece of art for a bland wall.
So, Let’s get started!!

How to make Sunburst Mirrors?
{A} FRAMING
- First and foremost, while buying a mirror, make sure to keep the size of the mirror the same as that of the smaller size of the embroidery hoop. This way it will fit in the larger frame of the hoop easily. u get the idea?? Right!!
- Place the mirror inside the larger frame (let’s call it …Frame ONE) and slowly secure the screw tight. Don’t use much force as the mirror will break, we just have to make sure that it doesn’t come off the frame.
- Now place the smaller frame (Frame Two) over the mirror and glue it with the help of a glue gun or Fevicol.
- Framing is complete. Let the glue dry and move on to the next step.
{B} Making
- Glue the bamboo skewers over the edge of the larger frame. Make sure to space them evenly.
- Continue filling the edge of the larger frame until it’s done. Keep something under the skewers to give them support and direction until they dry completely.
{C} Painting
- Secure the mirror with a piece of paper.
- Apply two or three coats of spray paint until you get an even finish. Allow the paint to dry between coats.
- Remove the paper from the mirror, Once the paint has dried.
{D} Finishing
- Glue the cut piece mirrors randomly or in a pattern, as u would like, to the skewers, with the glue gun; and let it dry.
- Flip it and cover the backside with cardboard ( used in framing).
- Cut the same size of the hoop and glue it to the mirror.
- Attach a hook on the cardboard to hang the mirror.
and Voila!! Our Sunburst Mirror is Ready to be hanged!! :P.
I have made two other variants of the Sunburst mirrors, one with skewers, the same process just a different pattern, and one with the popsicles.
